Engine Swaps

I am planning on swapping a 1997 DOHC 3400 engine into a 1995 Lumina with a 3100. This WIKI should document it.

My first step was to buy a Helms shop manual for each year car/engine and compare and contrast. So far, this is what I find different (more to come if needed or not):

- On the C100 connector (main engine to instrument panel harness....right side by heater box), most of the pinouts look to be the same. The only item I am going to have to update is ________

- The OBD connector below the dash need a repin and maybe a wire or two run to C100. The 1995 is a bastard year with OBD 1.5, and the 1997 is OBDII

- The heater hose/routing is different

- The power steering lines are different

- The steering rack has a sensor on it for something?

- There is a "sling shield" on the trans, lower inboard CV joint on the DOHC cars. Pretty sure this is to keep goop from being thrown into the alternator, which is now mounted low.

- There is a cooling pipe from somewhere that is used to help ventilate the alternator. Yeah GM...nice placement of the alternator ;)

- Of course, the PCM is different

- I need to add a post CAT O2 sensor, or a ghost version

- The EGR valve is totally different.

So far, that looks like it......but of course, more input appreciated :)

Since I picked up an engine wiring harness for the 3400, I'm not anticipating a problem with the PCM, EGR, etc hookups...as the C100 looks to be the compatibility point.
